Recommendations and Reports: Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine

CDC’s MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity. The
goal of this activity is to describe updated recommendations from CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization
Practices (ACIP) regarding prevention of Japanese encephalitis (JE) among U.S. travelers and laboratory workers.

This activity is intended for infectious disease physicians, neurologists, and other physicians involved in the prevention of Japanese encephalitis; public health and prevention officials; travel medicine practitioners; nurses; and pharmacists.

On completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the epidemiology and clinical characteristics of JE, according to an updated ACIP report.
  2. Identify the JE vaccine that is licensed and available in the United States, according to an updated ACIP report.
  3. Determine recommendations for use of the JE vaccine among travelers and laboratory workers, according to an updated ACIP report.

To access this free MMWR/Medscape CE activity, visit medscape.org/viewarticle/918022. If you are not a registered user on Medscape, register for free or log in without a password and get unlimited access to all CE activities and other Medscape features.
