Fiber: Soluble and Insoluble
There are two different types of fiber - soluble and insoluble. You need both for health and digestion.
- Soluble fiber attracts water and slows digestion. Some types of soluble fiber may help lower your risk of heart disease.
- Insoluble fiber adds bulk to the stool and appears to help food pass more quickly through the stomach and intestines.
