Treating nephrotic-range proteinuria with tacrolimusA 7-month-old girl with mitochondrial trifunctional protein deficiency arrived at Children’s National with a low corrected serum calcium level, elevated CK level and protein in the urine (proteinuria) at a nephrotic range. She was treated with the calcineurin inhibitor tacrolimus, and eight months later, her urine protein-to-creatinine ratio was back to normal. |
