Recovery LIVE! Employment Support Strategies: Approaches to Assist People in Recovery from a Serious Mental Illness or Substance Use Disorder
Thursday | June 27, 2019 | 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT
SAMHSA’s Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) invites you to join national experts in a conversation about employment support strategies for people living with serious mental illness, substance use disorder, or both.
While many people in recovery are eager to work, they often experience challenges when trying to join or rejoin the workforce. They may experience interruptions in education and career progress, encounter legal issues, face functional challenges, or have concerns about the impact of returning to work on their benefits. Employment support services can help people overcome these challenges and meet their employment goals.
Presenters will discuss a range of employment support strategies and share practical resources that may improve employment outcomes for people with serious mental illness or substance use disorder. One model that will be discussed is Individual Placement and Support (IPS), an evidence-based supported employment practice that helps individuals with serious mental illness obtain competitive employment.
Join us for this free, interactive virtual event moderated by Steven Samra, BRSS TACS Deputy Director.
